USA Truck Inc. of Van Buren said Wednesday that it has named Zachary King senior vice president and chief financial officer.
King, who has been vice president and corporate controller since 2017, succeeds Jason Bates, who the company said is leaving “to pursue other opportunities.”
“I want to thank Jason for his contributions to USA Truck and wish him success in his future endeavors,” USA Truck President and CEO James Reed said in a news release. “Zack is a tenured finance and accounting leader who has a deep understanding of process improvement and internal controls — areas critical to the future success of USA Truck. It is exciting to see our succession planning pay off by filling this critical position with an internal candidate who grew up right here in the River Valley, and is so well prepared to write the next chapter in our business improvement story.”
Before joining USA Truck in 2015, King worked in finance and accounting roles for ABB Ltd, Samson Resources Corp. and Deloitte. King, a CPA, earned a bachelor of business administration in accounting and a master of accountancy from the University of Central Arkansas.
Bates had been executive vice president and CFO since 2017, filling the post left vacant by Reed when Reed was elevated to CEO that same year. Bates joined the company from Swift Transportation Co. of Phoenix, where he had served as vice president of finance, revenue services and investor relations officer since 2010.
Publicly traded USA Truck (Nasdaq: USAK) offers supply chain management services including customized truckload, dedicated contract carriage, intermodal and third-party logistics freight management services.
