Over 1,000 COVID-19 recoveries in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark — As of Monday, April 27, the Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed 3,069 positive COVID-19 cases throughout the state.

A COVID-19 testing site opened today in the Shackleford Road Walmart parking lot. State officials say the testing site is supported by Walmart and Quest Diagnostics who are working with state and local officials.

On Saturday, the governor announced traditional high school graduation ceremonies are restricted until July 1.

Key facts to know:

  • 3,069 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Arkansas 
  • 40,629 total tests
  • 37,560 negative test results
  • 51 reported deaths
  • 1,053 recoveries
  • All Arkansas schools are closed for the remainder of the school year

Monday, April 27

7:00 p.m.:

The Arkansas Department of Health has confirmed 3,069 positive COVID-19 cases throughout the state with 1,053 recoveries from the virus.

12:15 p.m.

Arkansas Health Secretary Dr. Nate Smith breaks down the 3,017 cases:

  • 109 hospitalizations
  • 25 on a ventilators
  • 203 nursing home residents
    • 115 staff 
  • 50 deaths 
  • 856 positive Cummins inmates
    • 50 staff 

On Sunday, our positivity rate was 1.8%, which is lower than the average of 7.5%.

12 p.m.

In a press conference, Gov. Hutchinson confirmed 3,017 positive COVID-19 cases throughout the state.

Gov. Hutchinson said Arkansas achieved its goal of at least 1,500 tests during the two-day siege campaign.

The governor said Arkansas must satisfy one of two of these before the state can start Phase One opening:  

  1. Downward trajectory of documented cases sighing 14-day period 
  2. Downward trajectory of positive tests as a percent of total tests within a 14-day period
