Razorback outfielder Heston Kjerstad didn’t have to wait long to hear his name called on Wednesday night, June 10 as he was selected 2nd overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the Major League Baseball draft.
He becomes the first Razorback player taken in the first round of the draft since Andrew Benintendi in 2015.
Kjerstad led the Diamond Hogs with .448 average, 20 RBI, and 6 home runs in the shortened 2020 season.
Entering Wednesday’s draft, MLB.com had the Razorbacks junior ranked as the No. 10 prospect.
Kjerstad joins fellow former Razorback Blaine Knight to be drafted by the Orioles.
