The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville appointed David Snow as the interim vice chancellor for economic development.

Snow replaces Stacy Leeds, who stepped down after three years heading the department. Snow is the director of the university’s Technology Ventures, which is a part of the Office of Economic Development.

The university said a national search for a permanent vice chancellor is still ongoing. A 13-person committee, headed by Law School Dean Margaret Sova McCabe, was formed in February when Leeds announced she was leaving the position.

“I’d like to thank David for stepping up to serve in this vital role,” said UA Chancellor Joseph Steinmetz. “He brings great expertise and experience to the university’s efforts to commercialize its research and expand its positive impact on the Arkansas economy. I look forward to seeing how he builds on the strong foundation Stacy has put in place.”

Leeds will continue to serve as a law professor and dean emeritus at the university.
