Walmart Hires Deborah Vaughn As General Counsel for International

Walmart Inc. of Bentonville said this week it hired Deborah Vaughn as senior vice president and general counsel for its international business.

The publicly traded retailer said Vaughn will start work on Nov. 2.

Vaughn joins Walmart from the Kimberly-Clark Corp., where she was vice president and chief legal counsel for the firm’s Asia Pacific business. She was based in Singapore. 

Before that, she worked for 11 years in various legal roles for the Whirlpool Corp. in Italy, the United States and China. She previously worked as an attorney at several private firms, and worked as a journalist in New Zealand and as an English teacher in Malaysia.

“I’m excited to join Walmart, especially during such an unprecedented time when our associates are playing an important role serving millions of customers and their local communities globally each week,” she said in a news release. “I look forward to immersing myself in the International business and working alongside a talented legal team to support our thousands of retail units and eCommerce businesses in markets around the world.”
