Newmark Moses Tucker Partners of Little Rock announced Tuesday the opening of The Haywood, a $15 million, 70-room boutique hotel at 210 S. Washington Ave. in El Dorado that the firm developed with local investors.
The four-story building has been underway since April 2019. It’s a block from the city’s historic downtown square and adjacent to the Murphy Art’s District (MAD). It’s part of the “Tapestry Collection” of hotels by Hilton.
“The Haywood is critical to the success of MAD,” said Madison Murphy, chairman of the board for Murphy USA, in a news release. “It’s something special that will reflect the spirit of our dynamic city, and also fills the huge need we have for accommodations for our weekday business travelers.”
Ray Nolan, senior vice president of development for NMTP and the development team lead, added, “The hotel creates a cultural breezeway through this great community.”
The Haywood will include The Well, a bar with small tapas–style plates, cocktails, wine and craft beer. Connected to the bar is the hotel den with a wood burning fireplace, sofas, lounge chairs and an open lobby view.
Custom art from Arkansas artists will be featured throughout the building. And there’s an outdoor courtyard with a pool and a porch overlooking MAD.
“What’s exciting about The Haywood is that it’s not just for out-of-towners,” said General Manager Greg Marquart. “Locals can meet friends at The Well after work, or book it for special events.”
Architecture and interior design were provided by AMR Architects and Shelby Cotton. The general contractor was Clark Contractors.
Construction financing was provided by Bancorp South, and the hotel will be managed by Beechwood-Pinnacle Hospitality.
