Gov. Asa Hutchinson has appointed Jonathan Askins director of the Department of Transformation and Shared Services’ Division of Information Systems and chief technology officer.
Askins brings more than 25 years of experience in business development, operations, contract negotiation and management to the roles. He succeeds Yessica Jones, who left for an undisclosed position in the private sector.
Askins comes to DIS from Acxiom, where as director of Expert Client Management, where he guided new product strategy in the company’s government business sectors. From 1998 to 2000, he worked for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, where he led a cabinet-level task force to encourage investment in Arkansas’ tourism industry.
In 2018, Hutchinson appointed Askins to the state Data Transparency Commission. He serves as its vice chair.
Askins holds a bachelor’s degree in communications.
